Nice pictures! One of these days I'll have to cover this trail on my blog. It's a bit strenuous, isn't it?

Most of it is alternating up and down pretty regularly, which is the way I prefer it. I'd label it more as moderate.

Kimberli, if you're still reading this, I need to change that last response. I did a three mile section today that I haven't done before starting at the Daniel Boone Scout camp and that section, is definitely strenuous! (At least on the way up. Not so bad on the way back.)

Great, thanks for the update. I thought about tackling that trail some day but ugh, now I'm not so sure. If it's similar to the Bill Kimball Trail in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness, I can manage, but if it's tougher than that (or like the Hospital Rock Trail) there's no way!

Funny you should mention Hospital Rock. I almost did that trail yesterday instead. It's the only one I haven't done in that area. This section was a different kind of strenuous than what you find in the Mountain Bridge area. It's not that stair stepping over rocks and roots and ducking under the rhodos kind of climb like you find near Jones Gap. It's just a steady ascent for three miles. But after that, it's awesome, especially from March to August. The way the flora changes so quickly is amazing. And in July, it's great to leave a 90 degree day in Greenville and two hours later be walking in 65 degree weather with 20 mile 360 degree views.
