Dreher Island State Park

Dreher Island State Park is located in the middle of Lake Murray. It offers camping sites and villas, all located on the lake.

I was there for only an hour or so this afternoon and saw three deer and numerous species of birds, including these five turkey vultures perched in a tree above me.

Bull Island, SC

Bull Island, reachable only by boat, has the highest concentration of alligators in the United States. Visitors are allowed to roam freely on the island. This is one of about thirty we came within about ten yards of. The island is 6 miles long and a mile and a half wide.

This section of Bull Island is called Boneyard Beach because of the many distorted trees which are located there, due to the erosion of the north side of the island.
